UK Ultra South Downs 100 miles · 27 May 2023
Hello and thank you for visiting our JustGiving page. We, Jacqui and Maria, are taking on the South Downs Ultra 100 mile run on 27th and 28th of May to raise money for a very worthy charity – Cancer Research UK.
Unfortunately, we all know what cancer is, what it does, what it takes away from us, and why we must keep fighting it. That is why we have decided to not just take part in this insane event for the fun of it (!), but to put ourselves through this madness for a very good reason.
Cancer Research UK carries out life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. The pioneering work they do can help more people survive cancer.
This ultra is described as ‘a trail race through the beautiful South Downs National Park… from stunning location of Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Petersfield, travelling along the picturesque Staunton and Monarchs Ways, finishing over the iconic Beachy Head cliffs of Eastbourne’.
While the organisers use words like ‘beautiful’, ‘stunning’, picturesque’ and 'iconic', I imagine we will use a few different words as the miles roll by, the blisters appear and the lack of sleep takes effect, but we’ll leave that to your imagination.
The important thing is, we would really appreciate any sponsorship you can spare towards the vital work of Cancer Research UK, and hopefully one day, ‘together we can beat cancer’.
Thank you very much.
Jacqui & Maria
