Story
I am incredibly privileged to be part of the national highly specialised paediatric (IWMD) leukodystrophy service for the North of the UK, supporting children and families affected by these devastating conditions. Through my work, I see firsthand the profound and life-changing impact leukodystrophy has on families, and how vital specialist support is throughout their journey.
We work closely with Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity, who provide essential emotional support, information, and practical resources to families who often feel isolated and overwhelmed. Their representatives regularly travel long distances to attend clinics, ensuring families receive personalised care at some of their most difficult moments.
To help support this vital work, on 22nd March 2026 I will be taking on the 100-foot Falkirk Wheel Abseil. My aim is to raise £250 to help Alex TLC continue supporting families so that no one has to face leukodystrophy alone.
Leukodystrophies are ultra-rare genetic disorders that affect the white matter of the brain and nervous system, most commonly in children. They are often progressive and degenerative, leading to severe disability and, tragically, a shortened lifespan.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Thank you so much for your kindness, compassion, and support.
