I have chosen to run my first full marathon fundraising for Alzheimer’s Scotland. As many of my family and friends may know, my wonderful Grandad is living with dementia at the moment. I understand that dementia impacts many families similarly to how my own family have been affected so many people will know and understand how important this cause is.

It is estimated that 90,000 people are currently living in Scotland with dementia and of that, 3000 will be under the age of 65.

Alzheimer’s Scotland works alongside the Scottish government in order to help provide post diagnostic support, connect people and communities and implement support for the distress that dementia may cause.

I would be grateful beyond words if everyone could donate something towards this amazing cause and support me in my journey in completing this marathon for Alzheimer’s Scotland. I’m sure this is going to also be a massive personal challenge for myself both physically and mentally but I will be running this race in honour of my grandad and all the wisdom he has shown me throughout the years. From teaching me how to turn my headlights on when I passed my driving test to taking me to all my hospital appointments when I was young, to giving me pocket money for a sweetie everytime I saw him when I was young, all the big and small acts of kindness and everything inbetween, he’s a man who’s played a big role in my life so this is for you Granda and everyone else currently living with dementia ❤️
