Update
Since this page was launched on 30/3/24, WCK have been very much in the spotlight after 7 of their aid workers were tragically killed. The targeted nature of this attack has caused international outrage. There is finally real pressure on Israel to allow aid to safely enter and be distributed through Gaza.
WCK are an amazing organisation. They are filling the gap left by the withdrawal of funding from the UNRWA. They are responsible for 60% of the aid entering Gaza. Although the consequences of this pause are dire, their response shown in previous catastrophic situations (including in Ukraine where they also tragically lost 7 staff members) demonstrate their resilience and determination as an organisation. Although this is a monumental blow to food aid efforts in Gaza, the support of WCK seems more important than ever, as they will be the first back into the area to deliver aid as soon as possible. They have the capability and the distribution system. The international pressure on Israel to make this happen is also unprecedented. In memory of the tragic lives lost at WCK and all needless death in this conflict.

World Central Kitchen (WCK) are a getting food into Gaza NOW. By sea. WCK is a relatively small, responsive charity taking a creative approach to the tragic situation unfolding in Gaza.
Nearly 6 months into the conflict and food aid is being preventing from reaching increasingly desperate and starving people by road due to IDF control of border crossings and the destruction of Gaza's infrastructure.
By opening up a maritime aid corridor, a WCK convoy successfully delivered nearly 200 tonnes of food aid 2 weeks ago (17/3/24) This is enough food to provide 1 million meals. In their own words:
'For months, our teams across the region have worked nonstop with the support of the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus to open this maritime aid route into Gaza. We are sourcing and loading food onto boats in Cyprus and built our own jetty in Gaza using rubble, including from bombed buildings, to safely unload cargo.'
This is 'the first humanitarian shipment to reach the Gazan coast in nearly two decades.'
Following this success, a second convoy is on its way, RIGHT NOW (30/3/24).
WCK also work to get food in overland and continue to campaign for allowing the uninhibited flow of aid into Gaza through land border crossings. Read More Here
