Jade Keable is raising money for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust

Skyline Skydive 2026 · 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Ectopic pregnancy affects 1 in 80 pregnancies and is the leading cause of death in early pregnancy. We provide vital support and information for those affected, raise awareness among the public and healthcare professionals, and each year supply hospitals with leaflets.

Our Story 🤍🕊

Wednesday 30th August 2023 at 6:50am

I did a pregnancy test and there it was, a very faint second line! We had a week of excitement knowing we were having a little baby. We still didn't quite belive it so I kept doing pregnancy tests just to check this was actually happening and that very faint line began to get darker!

Sunday 3rd September

I did a digital test 1-2 weeks, that's also the day the pains and bleeding started.

Wednesday 6th September

At work in the morning, the bleeding got worse, I went straight to hospital. They asked how far along I was and I explained I wasn't sure as I hadn't had a menstrual cycle since June and I'd had the coil removed at the start of the year. They then said that they would go from my last cycle which would have made me 12 weeks pregnant. They did a scan and couldn't see the baby, then they did my bloods and the HCG hormone was high. We had to wait 48 hours to come back and do another blood test to see if it was rising, which meant everything would be ok. If it wasn't rising it would mean miscarriage, if it stayed at the same level it would be eptopic. It's the waiting to find out what's happening that's unbearable, we just wanted to know.

Friday 8th September

Another scan was done and still no sign of the baby (we thought it was just too early to see it), another blood test was done and my hormone level was rising. We're definitely having a baby!

The pains and bleeding were getting worse, I also felt very bloated and nauseous.

I thought this was just side effects from being pregnant, but I also had a feeling something wasn't right.

Tuesday 12th September

I went back into hospital for another scan and there was no baby to see. I had more bloods taken, my hormone level wasn't rising as much, so I needed to go back in 48 hours for another test.

Wednesday 13th September 5am

The day our lives would change forever.

I woke up with shoulder pain, excruciating stomach pains, a feeling of pressure in my lower back, feeling faint and nauseous. My Husband put me straight in the car and took me to hospital. I had bloods taken and did a urine sample. I was given pain relief then put in a hospital bed in the A&E department.

8am my Husband went to work and my Mum came to stay with me.

It got to 2pm and the nurse said I was going to have a scan as they suspected appendicitis. I went for the scan and my appendix were fine, then she had a look to see if she could see the baby. My left ovary was enlarged, she looked to my right ovary, that was also enlarged (PCOS). There was also a small round ball just under my right ovary in my fallopian tube. The lady went out to get her colleague for a second opinion. She then continued to show her colleague and they discussed what they could see. Then the question of 'Have you got someone here with you today?' and then the words...

'It's an eptopic pregnancy.'

I had no words.

I then had to go back to the bed in A&E, tell my Mum what they had found, then make the phone call to tell my husband it was an eptopic pregnancy and he needed to come back to the hospital from work because I was going into theatre. I will never forget that phone call.

Then I was taken up to Maple ward and prepared for surgery. At this point I was numb and didn't know what was happening apart from I was having surgery to remove the baby and my fallopian tube as it had began to rupture, I also had internal bleeding.

The surgery was done. I spent the night in hospital on pain relief and antibiotics as I had an infection.

Thursday 14th September

The sister from the baby unit came to see me who had been doing my bloods and seeing me when I came in to hospital. She said she wondered why I hadn't come in for my appointment then when she looked at my notes she saw I was already here. She told me that I would have been around 8-12 weeks pregnant and that because it was eptoipc the digital test wasnt correct because of the hormone level. She gave me a leaflet and a little memory box and she sat and spent time chatting with me and my husband.

6pm and I was allowed to go home. They gave me antibiotics and injections to have for ten days and I had to have 4 weeks resting.

After all of this no one can help you prepare for the recovery physically and emotionally.

We are still on our fertility journey and we want to raise awareness, 1 in 80 pregnancies are ectopic. If you experienced any symptoms seek medical advice immediately an ectopic pregnancy is fatal.

Any amount of donation would be much appreciated Jade and Jonathan Keable 🤍
