Story
My name is Jade and I am running the Port Sunlight 10k on the 8th June in Aid of Wirral Mind. For as long as I can remember, I have had a difficult relationship with myself and my mental health. I struggle with depression and Generalised Anxiety Disorder, so I understand how important it is for people to be able to access help and support when they need it most.
Wirral Mind are an independent mental health charity that offers vital services to the people in our local community. Working at Wirral Mind has shown me how valuable our services are to our community. They have also supported me in my own personal journey - developing my confidence and self-belief in a way that I never thought I was capable of, which has culminated in me starting a Shared Reading group at Wirral Mind.
Running has quickly become one of my favourite things to do, only starting in January on a whim (after never running before in my life). After facing a couple of injuries, I am now running 5k regularly. The Port Sunlight 10k is my next challenge and one that I want to use to support Wirral Mind, and the hard work my colleagues do every day to support our community.
