Story
For a cause EXTREMELY close cause to mine and my family’s heart.
Cancer is such a cruel and horrible disease, and it needs to be eradicated. 2024 was hard year for us as a family. Cancer hit the family so many times, it was such a tough period of time. First my father in law got diagnosed with two forms of Leukemia which thankfully are stable. Things got especially tough when my sister-in-law was given the devastating news that she had got Stage 3c2 Cervical Cancer with a 30-40% chance of survival. She underwent 6 weeks of invasive chemotherapy of Carbo-Paclitaxel and had the cold capping done at the same time to save her beautiful hair (which is brutally cold and freezes to your head). She then underwent 5 weeks of DAILY radiotherapy and once a week chemotherapy of Cisplatin. After this round was completed, she was admitted for a week to undergo internal radiotherapy (Brachtherapy). This is equivalent to a medieval torture device!!! We are now just waiting on the next round of results to see what happens next.
We can now say, that after a gruelling course of treatment, she’s been given the ALL CLEAR!!!!!
To help raise as much money as we can to help support Macmillan, we have decided to take on the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge. Myself, Tora, Ben, Joe and Jacqui are going to be walking 100km (62.13 MILES) challenge, in May 2025. This will be done in one go. With just 36 hours to complete it.
Please help us to raise as much as possible, In the hope finding a cure for all cancers and as much support as possible for those going through this horrible disease! We have chosen Macmillan as they are a strong support to not only the patient, but to their loved ones too. We never knew how much Macmillan help to care for cancer patients until we needed them.
