Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association.
This year, I will be taking part in several events to raise money for MNDA: Run 31 miles in January (fundraising target - £150), Leeds Half Marathon (£250), & Great North Run (£425).
Although I ran 2 half marathons in 2024, I haven't been able to run since September due to a knee injury which kept coming back over the year. Hopefully the 31 miles in January challenge will kick-start the new training plan! I will be running the Leeds half with my mum Kay, my brother James, and our dad, Ken, who will be taking part in his power chair.
*Update 04/04/2025* - Unfortunately I have had to drop out of the Leeds half as advised by my physio - my knee still isn't doing great and pushing it now would do more harm than good. Instead I'll focus on preparing for the Great North Run later in the year.
My dad Ken was diagnosed with PLS, a form of MND, in 2020 after 6 years of undiagnosed symptoms. It is a rapidly progressing neurological disease which attacks the nerves that control movement (motor neurones) so that muscles no longer work. Mental abilities and senses are not usually affected and therefore patients generally remain aware of their deteriorating physical condition. We need to raise awareness. There is no cure.
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. By sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Thank you again!
