Teaching

It is a partnership between Poole Hospital NHS FT and Lira hospital and university in Northern Uganda. The current situation in South Sudan means we cannot continue in Wau at present. Our teams deliver teaching to health care professionals in developing areas to enable them to improve health care.

Story

We have been given the incredible opportunity to visit Lira in Northern Uganda with Poole Africa Link in October this year.

We will be heading out with a team of experienced medical professionals, (including three of my colleagues) dedicated to improving care/emergency medicine. We will deliver education in emergency care, provide equipment, and work closely with the local medical team in their Emergency Department.

The aim of our work out in Lira is to make a significant lasting impact on the life saving care and treatment patient's recieve.

This trip is truly a privilege, but we must emphasise, it is NOT a holiday, it is a volunteering trip certified with the Poole Africa Link Charity. We will be working 6 days a week to provide education to this developing area.

We are so grateful for any contributions which will make this trip happen and help provide essential equipment and resources to hospital staff and patients in uncertain times when they need it the most.

Your support can help make a difference. Thank you so much.
