Story
In October seventeen other students and I will be embarking on a trip to visit Kawama school in Zambia in partnership with Beyond Ourselves charity whose main aim is to offer a higher quality of education to the children of Kawama. During our visit we will be helping teach lessons, taking part in sports activities and generally helping out around the school where we can. During our time there, with the children, we will also learn a lot about their culture and education.
As part of our fundraising activities I will be cycling roughly a third of the South Downs Way (total length c.100 miles and total elevation c.4150m) which is well known for its steep and long inclines, providing me with quite a challenge!
My trip has already been fully funded so 100% of any donations will aid the education and improve the school experience of the children of Kawama school.
Thank you!

Since 2011 Cranleigh School has been partnering with Beyond Ourselves to offer quality education to orphans and vulnerable children in the Copperbelt region of Zambia. In particular Cranleigh has a long lasting and meaningful relationship with Kawama Community School in Kitwe. Over this time, the generous support from the Cranleigh community has provided the building and maintenance of six classrooms, a toilet block and kitchen, and given nearly a 1000 children access to a high standard primary education. The District Education Board cite Kawama Community School as an excellent example of practice for other Community Schools in the Copperbelt. Many of our students have had the opportunity to visit Kawama and the impact of those visits is significant.
