SSNAP Oxford Half Marathon 2024
Campaign by SSNAP (RCN 1146622)
Join 'Team SSNAP' at the Oxford Half Marathon in October 2024, and help support our little superheroes, their families & the amazing NHS staff that care for them on the Neonatal Unit at the JR Hospital.

Story

Jago was born at 29 weeks gestation weighing 2lb1oz on 27 January 2024 at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He spent nearly 11 weeks in the neonatal care unit, during which time both he and we received amazing care and support from SSNAP, in everything from chairs for kangaroo care to the daily chocolate trolley!

When we eventually got home we decided we wanted to give something back so entered the Oxford half. On mentioning this plan to some friends, we very swiftly became a team of 10 'Jago's Joggers'!

The team is Annabel and Robin, Jago's parents, and a brilliant bunch of school friends - Luce, Em, Izzie, Katie, Vicki, Lucy, and Charl, plus an exceptionally keen brother, Charlie White!

There is a bit more information below about this amazing charity which makes a huge difference to new parents in an incredibly difficult and stressful situation.

SSNAP support sick newborn, their parents and those that care for them; by providing emotional, medical, financial and informational support.

SSNAP was founded in 1982 and has supported the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital ever since. The unit can care for up to 56 babies at any one time and is a Level 3 Centre, the most sick and premature babies from across the Thames Valley, are looked after here in Oxford.
