Jaheem's Fundraiser for Candle - Ribbon 4 an Angel

"I would like to raise money so more children can get help like me and I can buy more toys for the play room."
"Hello my name is Jaheem and I am 8 years old. I lost my sister Jahniyah unexpectedly when I was 6 years old. She was nearly two years old.
I started therapy with Candle Bereavement at St Christopher's Hospice 6 months after Jahniyah died.
My worker Karen was so kind and amazing, she was even funny a little bit too.
She really helped with my sessions because she helped me understand that it is important to talk to other people about my feelings."
"Please watch my story on You Tube & donate. Every penny helps."

(From Jaheem’s mummy)
Karen created a safe space for Jaheem and gave support like no other. He went to his sessions knowing it was a time for him and he enjoyed it.
Jaheem was also asked to be interviewed, so was given the opportunity & experience of having his story shared at their remembrance event that took place can you believe on his 8th birthday!! Bitter Sweet but It was beautiful.
Everything Karen and Candle have done for Jaheem will forever be apart of his journey in managing with the loss of his little sister Jahniyah whom he absolutely loved and adored so much.
St Christophers Hospice have a great space (therapy room) for the children.
Candle team you have helped our son, our family and many other families through the hardest times of our lives....
......& now we would like to give back.
THANK YOU KAREN and THANK YOU CANDLE xx

St Christopher’s Children and Young People's Bereavement Service (Candle) offers support for children and young people and provides specialist training and advice for schools, parents and professional carers supporting young people facing bereavement.
Just like adults, children react to death in different ways at different times. They may seem to be sad, angry, or not to care at all. They may have behaviour or concentration problems at school or home, difficulties with eating or sleeping and feel very anxious or guilty. We understand how difficult it can be to find a way to explain what has happened, to cope with their questions and to manage their behaviour.
We’re here to support them, and you, through our St Christopher’s Children and Young People’s Bereavement Service (Candle). We offer:
>One-to-one and group counselling for any child or young person under the age of 18 in Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark experiencing loss through death by any cause
>Specialist training, advice and consultancy services to schools and other organisations working with children facing bereavement
>An advice service for parents and professional carers.
Thank you for your support
