Story
Twelve years ago, aged just 9, I did this walk for the very first time. Now I'm 21, and on June 26th into June 27th I'm doing it all over again: the Midnight Dream Walk, 6 miles through the dark, for The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund.
The fund was founded in 1999 by my Uncle Tom — Thomas Ball — who was just a young boy himself, fighting neuroblastoma at the time. Rather than let cancer take everything, he chose to do something for other children going through the same fight. Tom is no longer with us, but the charity he started lives on — carried forward by my family — and it's still changing lives today.
The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund gives families of seriously ill children free holidays on the coast, funds research into childhood cancers like neuroblastoma, and improves children's oncology wards — precious time together, and a break from hospital life, for the families who need it most.
Walking 6 miles at midnight is nothing next to what Tom and these children have faced. Every pound continues his work. It would mean the world to me and my family if you could give whatever you can — no amount is too small, and every donation honours his memory. Thank you. 💙
