Story

On April the 1st 2025, at 32 years old,
George Snook tragically took his own life on his family farm in Patney, Wiltshire.
The rate of suicide reported is alarmingly higher in farming compared to the national average. The mental health crisis in the farming sector is further underlined by the fact that more lives are lost through suicide than as a result of fatal farm accidents each year.
Farmers deliver an essential service: producing food for the nation. However, being a farmer can be isolating and challenging, even after retiring. RABI’s goal is that no-one from the farming community should face adversity alone.
Their support is tailored to the individual. They offer free counselling, practical and financial support to farming people. Their grant programmes and emergency support help people through a crisis, and their regional support managers provide practical advice and are a friendly face and a listening ear when things are tough.
