Story
I am raising money for UK Sepsis Trust in memory of my mother-in-law Wendy, who sadly passed away suddenly in May 2020 from Sepsis which stemmed from an undiagnosed condition.
Sadly due to several factors, not least nationwide lockdowns resulting in Wendy self-isolating due to her existing medical conditions, it was extremely difficult for anyone to spot the signs, coupled with a lack of understanding of Sepsis and what to look for, sadly meant Wendy's life was taken far too early.
Wendy leaves behind her two daughters and grandchildren, who miss her enormously, the youngest of them sadly never having the chance to meet their Nanny, due to a condition that if spotted in time is completely treatable.
Sepsis isn't a condition we the public tend to give much thought to, which is why it is appropriately named the silent killer. Claiming in excess of 48,000 lives in the UK alone.
Every 3 seconds someone sadly loses their life to Sepsis, making it one of the biggest causes of death worldwide.
Like others who fundraise for UK Sepsis Trust, any donations I receive even if it's a few pounds will help this incredible charity to raise awareness and spark the question “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms.
Money raised for the Charity also goes to vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing the support Group network. the charity continues to lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
