Story
I have dreamt of running a marathon since my days of winning school competitions in middle distance running a teen. This is a bucket list item!
I suffered from double patella tendonitis through my 20’s and didn’t run for 12 years. I was inspired by the NHS couch to 5k in lockdown, and my dad bod! Eventually ran my first half marathon in late 2021. A couple of bad injury years recently (knees again and calves) but I’m fit and excited to have my first marathon booked!
I am running for an amazing charity important to my and especially my close friend Tim Jeans’ hearts as his mum has suffered over the past decade from recurring Myeloma, a form of cancer which 6000 people a year are diagnosed with in the UK. The work they do in research and treatment for those affected is crucial.
The plan was to run this with Tim, but due his unfortunate bad injury, I am flying the flag solo with a good cheerleader!
I am working hard to strengthen the muscles around my knees, and have invested in Orthopedic insoles. It’s a bit easier on the legs being 3 stone lighter than I was in 2020. Let’s hope my knees hold out through the training.
My target time is between 3hr 15m & 3hr 30m, according to the Runna app!
Any donation at all would mean a lot. Thank you!
