Story

Over a year ago, a good friend of mine, whom I have known for over 2 decades, was diagnosed with cancer.

As a husband, and father myself, I cannot imagine the heartache of receiving such life changing news from the person you love and having to try to carry on with normal day-to-day life afterwards.

Left with a true feeling of helplessness, and wanting to do something to make some small difference to them, myself and another friend of the family, Tony, did the only thing we could think of...

Attempt a crazy bike ride to raise money necessary to provide support to families going through the same circumstances as my friend.

So, we will spend 12 days in the saddle, cycling from one end of the country to the other-That's a little over 1000 miles!!!

For the next 15 weeks I will be training to take on the toughest challenge of my life and hopefully raise money for this amazing charity to support other families faced with the same situation.

So, How can your donation help?

£8 could provide a set of crafts and activities, including all of the materials needed to make a memory jar which serve as a reminder of special memories shared with their loved one.

£12 could enable us to provide one child with a memory box that can be used to store treasured objects, helping them to remember their loved one in a way that is personal to them.

£26 Could cover the cost of an online information session led by a Winston's Wish bereavement support worker.

Every day across the UK, children and young people lose someone significant to them. The death of someone important can be the most traumatic experience a child or young person will ever face.

Winston’s Wish relies on voluntary charitable donations to support children and their families following the death of a parent, sibling or important person. Since 1992, they have helped tens of thousands of bereaved children and young people and, with your help, can help tens of thousands more during the most difficult time of their lives.
