Story

Hi!

I'm running the 2026 London Marathon to raise money for the charity I work for - YMCA Worcestershire.

A bit about us (without any dance or dressing up jokes)...

The YMCA was formed way back in 1844, with YMCA Worcester emerging in 1896. We are a Christian charity, but we work with people of all faiths as well as non-religious people (like me).

We run some early years provisions and also have an extensive youth department, which provide services such as youth clubs and mentoring to young people throughout Worcestershire. We do work at HMP Hewell, doing sterling work to support families who have a member of family in prison.

I work in the housing department, where we have both general needs social housing and supported accommodation. Our supported accommodation houses homeless young people as well as many care leavers who are taking their next step towards independence.

Aware I'm bragging a bit, but we do lots of good stuff!

This will be my first time running a marathon. I've previously been on the sidelines, cheering my Dad on as we spotted him bound (kind of) along Tower Bridge, or round the corner at the cutty sark as my sister and Mom shout 'Roger! ROGER!!' 'Dad... DAAAAD' trying to get his attention...I have some fantastic memories from the London Marathon, and this time it's my turn to do the running.

I witness every day the great work that my colleagues do and the difference they make for the people in our local community...and I'm very proud to be running for YMCA Worcestershire. Any donation you can afford will be greatly appreciated.
