Story

We are James, Phil, Adam and Rory and we’re attempting the challenge of a lifetime in March 2024 - trekking through the Himalayas to one of the highest and most remote parts of the world, Everest Base Camp.

This will be a once in a lifetime adventure, but we are under no illusion that it will be easy. We expect to be pushed to our physical and mental limits but we do so willingly in support of our chosen charity, MacMillan Cancer Support. We have each been witness to the terrible impact that cancer has and any and all support you are able to give will go towards supporting those most in need at the most difficult time in their lives. The trip itself is 100% self funded so every penny you donate will go directly to this incredible charity.

We start our journey flying from Kathmandu to Lukla in a small single propeller plane. For those of you unfamiliar with Lukla, it’s the most dangerous airport on the planet due to its very short runway with a 600m drop off a mountain at one end and a stone wall cliff at the other…

Following our safe arrival (fingers crossed) our 160km trek to base camp will begin. This is where the challenge really starts, trekking for 8-12 hours a day navigating rough terrain, glaciers, 200ft high suspension bridges and countless natural obstacles not limited to unpredictable weather, (where temperatures will likely hit -30’c) and the high potential of altitude sickness.

Once we’ve reached base camp, we plan to go the extra mile and (weather and health permitting) start a 3am trek to summit Kala Pattar at 5,700m (circa 19,000 ft) to watch the sun rise over the monster that is Everest.

Any donation you are able to give would be greatly received.

Thank you,

James, Phil, Adam and Rory
