James's Great Italian Lakes Cycle for Alzheimer's Society

James Burrows is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Team: EDF - Aztec West

Great Italian Lakes Cycle 2026 · 30 September 2026

EDF vows to help end the devastation of dementia. We aim to raise a whopping £300,000 through employee fundraising and £150,000 in additional donations, all supporting the cost of life changing dementia services and ground-breaking research.

Story

I am undertaking a cycling challenge of around 100miles per day for 5 days through the Italian Alps from Venice to Verona via lakes Como, Garda and Iseo, and over mountain climbs such as the Madonna del Ghisallo, to help raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

Those who know me will know that I am an energetic thrill-seeker but this is more of an endurance cycle over several days (one I'm sure I'll enjoy)! Please consider supporting me and this worthwhile cause which I'm riding in memory of my Grandma, who was virtually unrecognisable due to mixed dementia and Alzheimer’s for several years before she passed away, unable to attend or appreciate my marriage or first child.

I am completing this with colleagues in EDF as part of the companies' employee fundraising to support Alzheimer’s Society services and ground-breaking dementia research. This page links back to my local EDF office page (for Aztec West) and towards the companies target of £300,000 this year. Together we are help and hope for everyone living with dementia.
