Story
This Sunday, I will be attempting to swim across the English Channel as part of a three-person relay team in support of the Children's Leukaemia Society (update - I completed this challenge as a part of a team in 13 hours and 23 minutes)
I chose this charity to honour the memory of my mum, who passed away just three weeks after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
Each of us will swim for one hour at a time, taking turns until, hopefully, we reach France around 12 hours later. Although I am far from being a strong swimmer, this challenge feels both daunting and deeply personal.
Raising funds for the Children's Leukaemia Society will help families facing incredibly tough times, while also giving me and my family a chance to remember my mum and the great love she had for children.
Many thanks
James
