Story
In late September, over three days, 440kms and 5,500m, I will be taking on the Club Peloton 'Explore 2025' challenge of cycling from Bilbao to Madrid with colleagues and industry peers to fundraise for Cyclists Fighting Cancer.
Explore 2025 aims to raise £40,000 for Cyclists Fighting Cancer, which helps young people living with and beyond cancer. The money raised will enable CFC to provide 20 Dutch-made infusion trikes to 20 children's oncology centers in the UK.
Maintaining a good level of activity at all stages of their cancer journey has a huge positive impact on children’s physical, mental and social wellbeing. Hospital stays are difficult and daunting for children, but thanks to a special infusion trike - equipped with IV pumps and bags - children are able to move freely while receiving treatment, relieving boredom and helping them to stay active.
Since the trikes made their debut launch at a hospital in Utrecht in September 2024, they have brought much needed joy and mobility to many young patients in Holland. CFC is currently trialing the very first infusion trike in the UK at Sheffield Children’s Hospital with a view to purchasing more, thanks to your help!
