Story
Dear friends
We hope this finds you well! We're writing with a very exciting request and we hope you'll want to be part of it.
This July, Poppy and I will be taking on two of the Lake District's most iconic and challenging mountains to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah year. On Friday we'll be climbing Blencathra - a dramatic 868-metre peak known for its spectacular ridges, and a serious challenge for any hiker. On Sunday, we'll tackle Helvellyn, England's third-highest mountain at 950 metres, famous for its breathtaking views stretching as far as Scotland on a clear day. Each walk is expected to take up to seven hours - proper mountain days that will test our legs, our lungs and our determination!
A Bat Mitzvah is a special coming-of-age milestone, marking a young person's growing sense of responsibility - for herself, her community, and the wider world. Poppy has thought carefully about what that means to her, and she has chosen to raise money for charity: water (https://www.charitywater.org/uk), a brilliant organisation on a mission to bring clean, safe drinking water to communities in need around the globe.
Did you know that around 700 million people worldwide still don't have access to clean drinking water? charity: water works with local partners in 29 countries to build wells, filtration systems, and sustainable water solutions. And here's what makes them stand out: 100% of every public donation goes directly to funding water projects - nothing is swallowed up in overheads.
Poppy has asked us to share this with you. Every pound you donate will make a genuine difference to people whose daily lives are shaped by the simple absence of something we take for granted every time we turn on a tap.
No amount is too small and we'll be sure to send you a photo from the summit!
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. It means the world to both of us.
