James's fundraiser for Worldwide Cancer Research

Lake Garda Half Marathon · 14 April 2024
Well, it’s happened again. I’ve signed up to another Half Marathon. But this time I’m part of a team heading to take on Italy’s beautiful Lake Garda Half Marathon on 14th April!
My lovely friend Julia is doing her first ever Half Marathon and has convinced a group of 10 friends, including me, to join her for the Lake Garda Half.
In 2023, Julia’s world was turned upside down when her father was diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, he survived and is now cancer free, but the outlook was very different at the diagnosis stage. Resultantly, Julia wants to give back to the cancer community and having assembled an international group of friends to join her, she’s selected Worldwide Cancer Research as the charity we will run for.
As many of you will know, I’ve had my own cancer experience in the past few years, with a skin cancer tumour being removed from my right cheek in 2020. (Wear sunscreen folks!) So I was more than happy to agree to join her for her first Half Marathon, and especially for this cause.
Worldwide Cancer Research only fund pioneering discovery research around the world - which means their researchers are seeking to discover entirely new knowledge about cancer. All new lifesaving tests and treatments for cancer are reliant on discovery research like their projects which, you can help fund.
They fund research into any type of cancer and look for the best ideas from all around the world. This approach ensures they are tackling the biggest challenges in cancer research right now that will have the most impact on people in the future.
It’s my usual drill. I aim to run sub 90 minutes or as close as I can get to it.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated by all of us.
