Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is an independent charity providing free 'home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital. Thanks to your donations, we are able to provide up to 530 families with accommodation each night so they can be together no matter what.

Story

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children undergoing treatment in hospital. Their Houses offer much more than just a place to stay—they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and essential services that allow families to remain close to their child’s bedside while reducing emotional and financial strain.

I have a deeply personal connection to this charity. Fourteen years ago, when my son was unwell and receiving treatment at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House after their staff heard I was sleeping in my car and came to rescue me. Their support during such a difficult time was a lifeline, and ever since, I’ve been committed to raising funds for them.

Over the past 14 years, I’ve raised money for Ronald McDonald House Charities through various challenges and businesses. This year, my son Gibson and I will be running the Great North Run 2025 to continue supporting this incredible cause. This will be Gibson's first senior event. He’s also raised money for the charity on a couple of occasions, but this is by far his biggest and most challenging event.

Every year, Ronald McDonald House Charities supports over 6,000 families in need. Your generous donations can make a significant impact, helping families stay close to their children when they need it most. Thank you for your support.
