Story
I'm taking part in the Overgate Hospice Inca Trail Trek in 2026!
As I'm sure most people are aware by now, I've been a busy boy over the last two years fundraising in support of Overgate Hospice's Big Build Appeal. I've taken on the Great North Run, The Ben Nevis Trek, and most recently the Sahara Desert Trek, in addition to my day-to-day role as a fundraiser here at Overgate.
Seeing the progress being made on the new inpatient unit from our office window fills us all with an enormous sense of pride. But whilst we have much to look forward to in 2026 at the hospice, one daunting prospect remains...
Once that new inpatient unit is open, we have to make sure we keep it that way!
Since returning from the Sahara trek, it's safe to say I've been a bit restless, wondering what my next challenge in support of the hospice that is so close to our hearts could be. The Inca Trail Trek feels like the obvious next step!
Both the Ben Nevis Trek and Sahara Desert Trek challenged me in their own ways, whether it was the yellow weather warning on the mountain or the heat and terrain of the desert... but I'll be honest, spending 10 days at a high altitude is something that terrifies me as it is so far out of my control.
I'm going to need to train (and of course fundraise!) harder than I ever have before, and your support will not only keep me on track, but 100% of your donations will go directly to Overgate Hospice to ensure they can continue to care those in our community here in Calderdale who need them most.
Check back here for training and fundraising updates, and let's smash the Inca Trail! If I don't at least get a picture with a llama out of this I'll be gutted...🦙
