Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Hi

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 11th of May I will be hiking the Yorkshire 3 peaks which is a 24 mile route and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. I will be taking on this challenge with my wife , brother in law and our dog Star

I am raising money for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People which is a fantastic charity, they train dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds they would otherwise miss – such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock and even a baby's cry. Being aware of these – thanks to a hearing dog – makes a real difference to deaf people’s lives, and can even save them.

I work for Contacta who are a company which specialise in hearing loops and assistive listening systems , so I understand the importance of being able to hear clearly and this can be life changing . Deaf awareness week is from the 5th -11th of May so this a good time to donate to make a real difference .

Many thanks !!

James
