Marathon Des Sables · 13 October 2024

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

For the many of you who have met Max and I, you may not credit us with a lot of common sense, and you would be right. But with age comes wisdom (allegedly), so rather than losing the 11th phone between us, we have decided to put this natural deficiency of common sense to good use.

We have signed up (with no marathon experience) to the Marathon De Sables - a 3-stage, 4-day, 120km ultra-marathon through the Sahara carrying everything we need to survive - food, water, emergency equipment - the lot!

Whilst this will be a true adventure for us, we would like to broaden the number of beneficiaries outside of ourselves and the closest pub to the finish line.

To anyone who knows us and the lucky few who have come across this by chance, please help raise money for an incredible cause:
