Our Story
Why am I running the Great North Run? This time last year I was confident my answer would be to fulfil a promise, to complete a running event alongside my best friend, my brother, my 'bud', Daniel. Sadly, the reality proves a stark contrast, with Daniel's anniversary only two weeks away. However, if it wasn't for Cure Leukaemia, this time last year that dream wouldn't have been able to even fester. Cure Leukaemia helps to fund life saving trials, like the Grans trial ran by Prof Wynn, in Manchester Children's Hospital. Without this trial, Daniel would never have been given that final chance, and have had that last bit of hope when he rang that bell. All donations towards Cure Leukaemia give other families that glimmer of hope, that light at the end of the tunnel, even just a few extra months of laughs, hugs and smiles before having to say goodbye. So, why am I fundraising for Cure Leukaemia? It's simple, so that some day when the horror story we faced comes knocking at your door, it'll be a different, more happy ending to your story.
