Campaign by Cardiac Risk in the Young (RCN 1050845, SC052581)
The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, with more than 57,000 runners pounding the streets of Newcastle. The 13.1-mile course runs from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields and attracts many world-class athletes.

Story

I’ve set myself the challenge of completing the Great North Run in memory of my friend, Ben Russell. As some of you will know, Ben passed suddenly in 2021 from an undiagnosed heart condition. I am running for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in his honour.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.

Any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated and go towards a charity which is doing incredible work. Thank you!
