Story
I was deeply saddened to hear that my friend and colleague Matt Hancock’s aunt, Hazel Potts passed away following a sudden cancer diagnosis.
In her final days, Hazel, was cared for at Dougie Mac Hospice, where she and her family were shown incredible compassion, dignity, and support at an unimaginably difficult time. After my own cancer journey I vowed to raise money each year for cancer charities and those who was not as fortunate as I and after learning of the news, I asked Matt if he would be comfortable with me raising money for the “Dougie Mac” in his family’s name and in loving memory. I’m honoured to be able to do so.
To raise funds for this amazing charity, I will be running four half marathons:
8 February 2026 - Dubai half marathon
15 March 2026 - Liverpool half marathon
31 May 2026 - Manchester half marathon
13 September 2026 - Great North Run
Dougie Mac provides specialist palliative care to adults, children, and their families living with life limiting illnesses. Their work goes far beyond medical care they offer emotional support, comfort, and dignity when it is needed most. As a charity, Dougie Mac relies heavily on donations to continue delivering this vital care free of charge to those who need it.
This challenge is my way of honouring and supporting a hospice that makes such a profound difference to families during their hardest moments. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure Dougie Mac can continue their incredible work.
Thank you so much for your support ❤️
