If you have a life-limiting illness, we can care for you and your family. Our care is free and can be provided in your home, at our Living Well community hubs or our In-Patient Unit.

Story

As many of you will know, in April this year we lost our dear colleague Nicola Orrow following her brave battle with Cancer. Nicola joined the business in 2019 and quickly became an important member of our Business Development team and a friend to all that worked with her. Nicola was heavily involved in our charity fundraisers last year where we raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support. Thanks to Nicola and all that donated, we raised over £17,000 (including Gift Aid).

Nicola spent her last few days at The Isabel Hospice in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. During her time at the hospice, Nicola received outstanding care, and was able to pass with dignity and in comfort, surrounded by her loved ones. The hospice will continue to support the family whilst they try to come to terms with their loss.

For patients in East Hertfordshire, if you have a life limiting illness, The Isabel Hospice can provide care for you and your family. The care is free, and can be provided in your home, at their Living Well community hubs on in their In-Patient Unit. It currently costs £8M a year to provide this service with only 20% coming from the NHS, the rest is voluntarily funded by the community.

In a bid to raise over £20,000 - over the weekend of 18th - 19th October, 22 Borras employees will be taking on the challenge of the Devon Coast to Coast - cycling 100 miles of hills and valleys from Plymouth; on the South coast of Devon to Ilfracombe; on the North coast of Devon.

Every year we nominate a chosen Charity. This year in memory of Nicola and other former colleagues, we have chosen to support The Isabel Hospice whose incredible care and compassion meant so much to Nicky and her family. This challenge is not only a physical test, but a deeply personal journey for our team – a way to honour Nicky’s memory and give back to an organisation that made a real difference.

Please dig deep to support this amazing event and this imperative service that The Isabel Hospice provide!
