At James James Kitchens, we host an annual charity morning at our West Kirby showroom to raise vital funds for cancer research and for charities supporting patients and their families. This year’s event will take place on Friday 26th September 2025, from 11am–3pm.

Cancer is a devastating illness that has touched so many lives, including mine. My husband Paul was just 38 when he was diagnosed with two stage 4 glioblastomas; he passed away less than five months later, leaving me and our two young children, Molly (8) and Jack (6), heartbroken. Eleven years on, my mum Thelma died from Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma after secondary brain tumours were found, surviving only three months after her diagnosis.

More recently, our family was hit again, when my nephew was diagnosed with a Pineal brain tumour at the age of 18-year-old. He went into remission, but not long after was then diagnosed at the age of 20-years-old with brain fluid caner. Thankfully he is now in remission from this too.

These deeply personal losses and experiences with cancer, have fuelled our commitment to do more. To raise funds, to raise awareness, and to support others going through the unthinkable. We support Northwest Cancer Research, who fund pioneering scientific work to improve early detection and treatment outcomes.

We fundraise not only to honour the memory’s of those we have lost, but to help change the future, because no one should go through this alone, and every person deserves access to timely support and care.
