James' fundraiser for Forces Employment Charity

James Shaw is raising money for Forces Employment Charity
Forces Employment Charity provides life-long, life-changing support, job opportunities and training to Service leavers, reservists, veterans and their families, irrespective of circumstances, rank, length of service or reason for leaving.

Story

Having proudly served in the Royal Air Force, I know the military shapes you in ways that stay with you for life; discipline, adaptability, resilience, and the ability to think clearly under pressure. These are exactly the skills that industries like Compressed Air need, but too often, veterans don’t realise just how valuable their experience is outside of uniform.

After moving into the Compressed Air Industry, I saw the huge opportunity it holds for fellow ex-forces personnel. From tight deadlines to critical equipment maintenance and problem-solving on the fly, this industry rewards the same mindset that is instilled in every service member.

I am now working alongside the British Compressed Air Society (BCAS) to help pave the way for veterans into this vital sector.

But I’m not doing this alone...

The Forces Employment Charity (FEC) plays a crucial role in helping veterans navigate life after service. They offer life-long, life-changing support that helps former military personnel build careers that truly fit them, careers where they can use their hard-earned experience to solve real-world problems, keep businesses moving, and thrive in high-pressure environments.

It’s not just about getting a job, it is about finding purpose again.

I am proud to be fundraising for FEC because their mission aligns perfectly with what I am passionate about: encouraging service leavers to find their place, gain new skills, and succeed in industries where their military background is an asset not a barrier.

In just a few weeks, I am taking on the ultimate physical and mental test:

EVERY UK & European Tough Mudder event, plus the 24-hour endurance event. The World’s Toughest Mudder with a personal goal to complete 100KM.

The Journey:

• London West – 10th May (15km)

• Scotland – 7th June (15km)

• World's Toughest Mudder – 28th till 29th June: 24 hours, aiming for 100KM

• NOW DOING - INFINITY - 12 hour continuous loops - Yorkshire – 26th July (30-60KM)

• Southwest – 16th August (15km)

• London South – 20th September (15km)

Each course is packed with mud, fire, ice, and walls to climb—but it’s nothing compared to the journey many veterans face when leaving the armed forces.

This isn’t just my mission, it is ours.

I will be documenting every obstacle, every mile, and every challenge with photos, videos, and stories, sharing it all with you, the community standing behind me, Forces Employment Charity ans BCAS.

Your support isn’t just a donation, it is a message to every service leaver that says,

"We believe in you. We’ve got your back."

Help me reach my goal of £10,000 for FEC and support our military community in building new lives, new skills, and new careers.

Together, we can show that life after service can be just as impactful and just as heroic.

Thank you for believing in this mission.

See you in the mud.
