On 5th November 2025 Dale and I will be attempting the Overgate Sahara Trek to raise funds for hospice.

This long-weekend charity challenge takes us on a four-day trek across the ever-changing landscape of one of the world’s largest deserts – the Sahara! Our adventure will take us on a climb to the top of the enormous Chigaga Dunes. The days will be hot and the trekking will get tough but with the backdrop of the Anti-Atlas Mountains to keep everyone going.

Overgate Hospice provides expert care, support, advice and information for patients and their families, carers and loved ones.

Caring for people over the age of 18 who have a terminal illness or a long term condition that cannot be cured, also known as life-limiting. Overgate 12-bed Inpatient Unit (IPU) provides end-of-life care, symptom control and respite care, with 34% of our IPU patients being discharged to the comfort of their own home with their symptoms managed.

The Day Hospice provides expert care, advice, support and signposting for those in the community who are living with their illness but not yet at the end of their lives.

The care they provide is free of charge, and inclusive of all people, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. All are welcome to receive care when they need it.

Overgate is a fantastic charity and they have looked after people extremely well that we have both known.
