Story
In 2025 I'm taking on two marathons: the London Marathon and Snowdonia Marathon Eryri.
This challenge started out with just London in April. However, I'm upping the stakes having gained a place in the Snowdonia Marathon Eryri ballot, taking place almost 6 months after London.
I am not much of a runner - 5km is usually about my limit. But I'm pushing myself to complete this challenge to fly the flag and raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Here's why: Muscles. Around 110,000 people in the UK live with a muscle-wasting condition. Including my cousin Alex.
Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) is a great charity, hugely appreciated by my family. It's the charity which supports individuals like my cousin who suffer from incurable and degenerative muscle wasting conditions.
Alex has Becker muscular dystrophy but he’s lucky to be able to live a predominantly 'normal' life - recently graduating from uni with a First, which deserves a special shout out!
For others it is hugely debilitating. Those with the condition suffer chronic muscle pain and life changing reduction in mobility, and for some sufferers, reduced life expectancy.
MDUK help enormously with emotional support, as well as information about the condition and what support is available, not just at the point of diagnosis but since.
By fundraising for MDUK, I’m helping to fund world-class research into effective treatments and life changing support.
All donations, messages of support and general encouragement are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
