Walk from York to Normanton · 6 September 2024

Acorn Alternative Provision is a Christian charity, working in partnership with local churches, to deliver trauma-informed educational programmes and wrap-around support to young people and families, who are facing exclusion or disengagement from mainstream school.

Story

Cliffords Tower, York to Acorn, Normanton

I am reaching out to share the incredible impact that Acorn Alternative Provision has had on young people like my daughter. When Evie was struggling in mainstream school, Acorn provided the support and understanding she needed to thrive. Dealing with mental health challenges and ASD, she found her place at Acorn and made remarkable progress.

The dedicated staff, some of whom are volunteers, work tirelessly to create a nurturing environment for these young individuals. Their commitment goes above and beyond, providing not only education but also invaluable support for both the students and their families.

Acorn relies on charitable donations to continue its vital work, and any contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant difference.

on the 6th of September myself and one of Evie’s teachers, Gavin Budby will be embarking on a fundraising walk from Cliffords Tower in York to the Acorn site in Normanton in support of Acorn, this is roughly around 30 miles on foot, with the goal of raising £1,000.

Your generosity will directly impact the lives of these young people and ensure that Acorn can continue to provide exceptional care and education. Join me in making a difference by donating through JustGiving - your support is truly appreciated.
