Story
Anyone who knows me will know not only do I hate running, I also couldn’t run a bath so this will be quite the challenge.
I’ve always wanted to do something in memory of my Dad who passed away in August 2011 after discovering a Sarcoma in 2009/10.
My Dad was a professional football, an athlete and we saw devastating this disease can be even at just 37 years of age.
Dad (Mark Ovendale) made over 250 senior appearances, playing for clubs including Barry Town, AFC Bournemouth, Luton Town and York City.
After helping Barry Town win three consecutive League of Wales titles, he joined AFC Bournemouth in 1998 before earning a £425,000 move to Luton Town in 2000, a significant transfer fee for a goalkeeper at the time.
He went on to make 55 appearances for Luton Town, helping the club secure promotion in the 2001–02 season before later playing for York City, Tiverton Town and Newport County.
He will always be remembered and always be my hero.
Forever 37❤️
