Story
I've had an Idea!
I plan on running a total of 200KM in 30 days, this will start on the 26th September in Berlin and finish 25th October at the Haltemprice 10K event.
I only started running in June of this year as a way to help with my mental heath, I'd just learnt of not one but two people that I know that have been affected by skin cancer and I realised that I didn't know a lot about it. Skcin are completely dedicated to providing FREE national educational programmes and resources that raise awareness of the importance of sun safety to prevent skin cancer and how to detect the early signs and symptoms, to improve prognosis and save lives.
The 1st person is my Dad, Stuart. He was diagnosed shortly before his 80th birthday this year when he was also dealing with the loss of my uncle Dave. He promised Dave that he would make sure my auntie Val would be looked after and he's kept his promise evening when dealing with the treatment ensuring that she gets the best care that she needs. That's just the type of person he is.
The 2nd person is Tristan who is not only a work associate but a friend. I've had a working relationship with Tristan for over a decade and I've still yet to meet someone with a greater work ethic than him. He covered a breakdown the morning of his daughter's Christening, got the repair done, went to the Christening then went back to ensure that everything was still working. Again, this is just the type of person he is.
So if you can chuck a few quid into the pot for this cause it could just help someone learn and hopefully prevent them getting skin cancer.
