Story

Hi there,

I'm James. That's me on the left, aged 6, with my sister Mhairi.

On May 26th, Mhairi and I will be running in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival to raise money for Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs.

Scottish Families are a fantastic charity that provides vitally important support to anyone affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use in Scotland.

Me and Mhairi know the importance of this firsthand. Just over a decade ago we lost our Mum, Marilyn, to alcohol. This marathon isn't just about miles; it's also a journey of remembrance and resilience, dedicated to our Mum's memory.

Mhairi will be lacing up her running shoes and tackling the half marathon. I’ll be running the full marathon later in the day and will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for fastest time in a football kit (wearing the green and white of Hibs of course!💚🤍) The attempt needs to be done in studded football boots while carrying a full sized football - should be fun…

But we can’t do it alone and need your support. We’d be incredibly grateful for any donation you’re able to make - it’s going to a great cause!

Thanks for your support and standing with us.

James and Mhairi xx

About the charity

Family members try and do all they can to support someone with an alcohol or drug problem. There are many people in Scotland who are doing this on their own and in silence. Your donations will help us to continue our work supporting families across Scotland.
