Story
On Friday, 19th June 2026, at 10am, I will embark on a personal ultra distance run - a 24 Hour Running Challenge to see how far I can run in the Quarry and surrounding areas. This challenge is not just about pushing my physical limits; it is a heartfelt effort to raise vital funds for Shropshire Mental Health Support, an organization that has played a crucial role in helping to rebuild my confidence after a severe psychological breakdown in December 2024. I have a long way to go in my recovery, but I believe I am on the right track with incredible support around me. I will be forever grateful and thankful for Shropshire Mental Health Support and have met some amazing people there
The charity operates a well-being van that travels to various locations in Shropshire, providing individuals with the opportunity to connect with their amazing staff. For the entire duration of my challenge, this van will be stationed in the Quarry, serving as a refueling point for me and my fellow runners while also promoting the incredibly important work they do to support mental health.
As I approach the final hour of this grueling challenge, I will be joined by participants from Shrewsbury Park Run. Their support will be invaluable as I push through the last stretch. Choosing June ensures we have maximum daylight hours to complete this endeavor.
I am aiming to raise £1,000 for Shropshire Mental Health Support. This charity empowers individuals facing mental health challenges by campaigning for improved services and raising awareness about mental ill-health in our community. They ensure that those in need are heard and provided with essential help.
Shropshire Mental Health Support has positively impacted over 12,000 lives annually—over 1,000 individuals each month—averting more than 700 potential suicides every year. Their commitment saves invaluable lives filled with purpose and meaning.
The well-being vehicle is an essential service that brings help directly to those who need it most, especially given the poor public transport infrastructure in our area. It connects seamlessly with other vital services offered by the charity, including their award-winning Shropshire Sanctuary and round-the-clock telephone support service.
I invite you to join me on this journey by supporting my fundraising efforts for Shropshire Mental Health Support. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no one faces their mental health challenges alone.
