Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Help me raise money to support spinal cord injury sufferers to recover their independence.

I am raising money for Aspire - who provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, supporting them from injury to independence.

Making up for lost time following long-Covid and the closure of my nearest, best training pool last year, I am now doing TWO big swim challenges.

On the longest night of the year I will swim the longest I have ever attempted. 12 hours, 12kms, from 7pm to 7am at Hillingdon Lido. That's 240 lengths of the 50m pool over 12 hours.

Then in August I take a healthy dose of grit and naivety to swim from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight. 5km of open water swim in a target of 2 hours (there or there abouts). Hopefully with the current at my back and your generous donations I will look to conquer a long held ambition (and fear!).

It's going to be tough, it's going to a good story to tell after the fact, and it's a great opportunity to raise money for an issue I care about.
