James's fundraiser for PTSD Scuba

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi, I’m Jim Newman. A veteran of 25 yrs from ‘87-12 serving in the RAF Regiment deployed to most of the major conflicts whilst in the RAF Regt. Consequently, I was diagnosed with severe PTSD early on in my career and unfortunately it was compounded due to continued deployments to areas of conflict.
I thought I would never rid myself of PTSD after several residential’s involving really intense counselling but still suffering with the symptoms sometime afterwards.
Then October last year after I was interviewed by the BBC about my worsening mental health suffering with PTSD, PTSD Scuba contacted me inviting me to travel to Long Island in the Bahamas to do 2 weeks of scuba diving at depths up to 135ft.
I traveled out there 5/1/25 feeling anxious, depressed like I always had. I returned 18/1/25 feeling a totally changed, happy, excited and looking forward to being the new me.
This gentle non invasive approach to healing PTSD is amazing and I know that if it wasn’t for this amazing charity my mental health would have declined even more.
I am the 17th veteran to do this with PTSD Scuba and we are all 100% PTSD free!!! I want to raise as much money as possible for this charity to get more veterans out there and experience the new life it has brought us.
Thank you 🙏
