James Passfield is raising money for The Phoenix Stroke Club

Marathon des Sables · 6 April 2025

The Phoenix Stroke Club supports stroke survivors by providing a range of stimulating activities that aim to restore confidence and improve communication and mobility.

Story

In April of this year, I will be taking on the 'toughest foot race in the world' - the Marathon des Sables. This incredible race spans approximately 250km across the Sahara Desert and I am excited to be running it to support the Phoenix Stroke Club.

The Phoenix Stroke Club is dedicated to supporting individuals who have suffered a stroke or other neurological disorder, providing them with the resources, community and rehabilitation they need to recover and thrive. Every step I take in the desert will be for those who have faced the challenges of stroke recovery.

The Marathon des Sables is the ultimate challenge, both physically and mentally. Running self-supported through extreme heat across sandy terrain for six days is something I've trained hard for (albeit difficult to replicate in the UK winter...) I want to push my limits to raise awareness for the amazing work that the Phoenix Stroke club does.

I would be incredibly grateful for your support. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference to those who need it the most. Every penny you donate will go to the Phoenix Stroke Club and will provide support, resources and rehab for its club members.
