Team Refuge London Marathon 2026

James Philpott is raising money for Refuge

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

Team Refuge are running the iconic London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for survivors of domestic abuse.

Story

One in four women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime. And every week in England and Wales, on average, two women lose their lives at the hands of a current or former partner.

This is not just a statistic for me. It’s personal. I am running in memory of my beautiful sister, Hayley.

Hayley was the life and soul of every gathering — the kind of person whose smile lit up a room and whose laugh, cheeky and contagious, made everyone around her laugh too. Losing her has left a hole in our lives that can never truly be filled. The world feels dimmer without her.

I’m running to honour Hayley. To carry her light forward. To keep her memory alive. And to support Refuge — a lifeline for women who need safety, hope, and the chance to rebuild their lives free from abuse.

Refuge is the largest single provider of specialist services for survivors of domestic, sexual and gender-based abuse. They run the free, 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline — often the very first step for a woman escaping violence.

By sponsoring me, you are helping to save lives. You are giving women and children safety, dignity, and a future.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you
