I am excited to share that I will be running the TCS New York City Marathon on November 2nd, 2025, to support WellChild.

More than 100,000 children across the UK are living with complex medical needs, many of whom spend months or even years in hospitals due to a lack of support that would enable them to return home. For families already at home, the challenges of keeping their children safe are compounded by inconsistent and inadequate levels of training and support.

WellChild is dedicated to ensuring that every child and young person with complex medical needs has the opportunity to thrive at home. The charity’s mission is to create a society where children can be cared for at home whenever possible, have the right care and support around them, enjoy a stimulating and happy family life, and feel recognized, empowered, and celebrated.

WellChild achieves this through a range of vital services, including:

- A team of 53 nurses across the UK who help children with complex needs leave hospitals and receive care at home.

- The Helping Hands programme, which enlists volunteers to create accessible sensory gardens in children's homes.

- Better At Home Units, designed to train parents to care for their children with confidence in their own homes.

- The Family Tree, a support network that connects families through social media, online meet-ups, and coffee mornings to reduce isolation.

- A Family Welfare Advisor who helps families access essential financial support, including Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payments, and charity grants.

- An Information Hub providing digital resources to guide and support parents navigating these challenges.
