Story
On 5th October 2025 I will be running my first ever marathon taking place in Chester ( I must be mad!). As extra motivation for completing this challenge, I want to run on behalf of a very worthwile cause. Park Lane School, Macclesfield is an incredible facility that offers education and key experiences for extraordinary children who have additional needs and disabilities. It is a facility that means a lot to me personally as my late brother, Christopher had some very happy memories there when he attended in the mid and late 1980's.
Christopher was born on 5th October 1982 with a hole in his heart and also had Downs Syndrome. He was part of my life for just over 5 years and remember that Christopher always returned home from school with a smile on his face. There is no doubt that Park Lane Special School had a positive impact on his life despite the struggles with his physical health. He was the bravest person I have ever known as he never showed he was struggling or in pain. Christopher gave me, my family and everyone that knew him some very happy memories.
I am so proud that Park Lane is still thriving as a specialist facility and want to do what I can to raise awareness of what they offer for children like Christopher. He would have turned 43 on the day of the marathon, so it an extra incentive for me to complete it!
I have not set a target total but if you are able to donate ( whatever you can spare) I and the school would be so grateful as I know whatever funds raised will go towards making a positive difference for children who attend Park Lane.
Thank you 😊💛
