Story

Hi everyone,

This year I have decided to run the Edinburgh Marathon 2024, on May 26th. As many of you may know, I have some pretty ropey knees and don't quite share the habits of a Marathon runner so this may be an interesting challenge. So aside, from the much-needed lifestyle shake-up, I am doing this to raise money for the MS society. A charity dedicated to helping everyone live well with MS.

MS is a disease that has affected my close family personally. It is a condition that impacts every aspect of daily life and limits how much people can do the things that they love. Despite the diagnosis, they have never let MS control their lives or outlook. Instead, they have become stronger, more resilient and caring people. Always seeking to support others and that is why I am running.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. MS is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system. The immune system attacks nerve fibres and myelin sheathing in the brain and spinal cord. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move, think and feel. More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help manage the condition and its symptoms.

The MS Society is a truly remarkable charity, so please do have a look at their website to learn a bit more.

Thanks so much for reading, and please donate if you can xx
