Story

2 Marathons In A 6 Week Period

I’m dedicating the challenge of running two marathons in six week period to two of my closest friends’ mums. It’s something that’s stuck with me for a while—watching Colby’s mum, Tracey Knudson, stand up to cancer for over seven years. The resilience she’s shown, while still being the caring, compassionate, and welcoming person she is, has left a lasting impact on me.

Even at the peak of treatment, she’d still host BBQs for Colby, his mates, and his family, putting on a full spread like nothing had changed. It seems like a small thing to focus on, but it’s something I’ve mentioned to Colby before—how, as I’ve grown up, I’ve come to appreciate just how much strength that took. To keep showing up, to keep being the glue for the people around her. It makes running a couple of marathons feel like nothing in comparison. Sending my love, Tracey. And to Colby, my longest-standing mate—even though you can be a mardy sod, your presence makes everything better. Appreciate you.

Secondly, for Emily’s mum, Sarah. Someone who’s recently come into my life and is now at the start of her fight against pancreatic cancer. It’s strange to witness something like this for the first time—to sit around a dinner table, watching someone laugh, joke, and playfully challenge their daughter, and realise that if I hadn’t been told, I wouldn’t have known. The strength in that is something else.

Emily speaks about you all the time, especially when it comes to music—your ability to instantly know whether a song is either total shit or the best thing you’ll ever hear. Makes sense where Emily gets her decisiveness from. When I was living in Manchester, I’d FaceTime her often, and hearing you both laughing in the background always made me smile. You’re doing amazing, and thank you for the good music.

Due to limited spaces, l've signed up to run the Manchester Marathon for Shelter, supporting those facing homelessness.

To be honest, this wasn't my initial plan, but homelessness is a prevalent issue in both Grimsby and Manchster, and since I'm now running on behalf of Shelter for the Manchster race and Cancer Rsearch for Barcelona Race, I'd love to split any donations between the two causes.

If you're able to support, l'd be incredibly grateful.
