After 15 years of living and working in and around Cardiff I have finally decided to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on 6th October 2024! I’ll be joined by one of my best friends, Janine and my older brother, Matthew.

I would love for you to spare any small amount of money and sponsor me to run and raise money for Cerebral Palsy Cymru (CPC) as I’ve had links with the charity throughout these past 15 years. Formerly ‘Bobath’ the charity was originally set up in 1992 for children with Cerebral Palsy. One of the founder parents was Chris Loyn and his late wife Jane Bayley. Their son, Jack has Cerebral Palsy and frustrated by the lack of local support they, together with others, raised funds to set up a centre to help other families in Wales with children who have cerebral palsy.

In 2008 I met Jack after joining Chris and Jane’s Architecture practice LOYN+CO and since then have been aware of the amazing work Bobath, and now CPC do. Initially from their fantastic fundraising events but more recently in 2019 I was privileged to be part of the design team that created their new centre in Cardiff. A much larger centre it marked the next chapter of CPC and gave me a greater insight into the work they do. The new centre, funded through grants and fund raising has seen their capacity to help children across Wales increase dramatically.

It has been wonderful to see our design make such a difference to the staff and families that visit and I would love to be able to go further beyond that and donate money to them through running the Cardiff Half Marathon.
